Ephesians 6:2-3 NIV
2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
2 Timothy 1:5 NIV
5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
Parents hold a special place in our hearts. Mothers are sweet and loving because they care so deeply for their children. The power of a Godly mother though is sometimes in the unseen things. The preparation for a meal, the making of a bed for a visitor, or even the quiet praying for a loved one. We can all learn lessons from a godly, Proverbs 31 mother.
Today's scriptures help instruct us to honor and love both of our parents. There is deep wisdom, love, and understanding in the hearts of parents and especially mothers. Even Paul commends in 2 Timothy the faith of his mother and grandmother because they served as the foundation for Timothy to be strong in his own faith. The lessons we can learn from our mothers are endless and filled with selfless love.
