Scripture

John 16:33

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Main Idea

There are times where you have setbacks and storms that come into your life that throw you off course. Unfortunately that can happen to all of us. There is even a chance the enemy has done so to completely take you out of God's will for your life. If you are still here then God still has a plan for you to accomplish.

You're still here because God wants you to be.

Discussion Questions

  1. What is one difficult thing you have had to do in the past that you were afraid of?
  2. Are there things in your past preventing you from enjoying your current situation or your future?

Summary

In the movie Twister, Kate lost some very important people to her doing what she loved. Unfortunately that set her back and she completely withdrew from what she was meant to do. Even when we have lost things in the past or experienced trauma, God wants to heal us and keep us moving toward His plan for our lives.

God is with us and has overcome the world as John 16:33 expresses. He never leaves us, nor forsakes us. His plan for your life is unshakeable and He wants you to refocus and accomplish it.

How do we move forward knowing God has a plan for you?

  • Face Your Fears - sometimes the path to success runs through your greatest fear. When fear says you can't, Joshua 1:9 encourages us to be strong and persevere.
  • Heal From Your Past - sometimes we have lost things or have been hurt. You can't step into your destiny while living in your history. What part of your past needs healing? Isaiah 43:18-19 encourages us to let go of those things holding you back.
  • Keep Moving Forward - Trust is not a feeling, it is a decision. David reminds us in Psalm 56:3 that we must choose to trust in the Lord.

Take Action

  • Take one step towards your current fears and ask God to help you overcome it.
  • Pray for strength and then take a step towards your goal or what you feel God has called you to do.
