The Hard Work of Harmony

Scripture

Psalm 133: 1-3 GNT

1 How wonderful it is, how pleasant,
for God's people to live together in harmony!
2 It is like the precious anointing oil
running down from Aaron's head and beard,
down to the collar of his robes.
3 It is like the dew on Mount Hermon,
falling on the hills of Zion.
That is where the Lord has promised his blessing—
    life that never ends.

Main Idea

Relationships take work. Today's verse encourages us to live in harmony. Harmonious living takes effort and intention.

Harmony flows where humility is found: Today's culture encourages us to 'speak our truth' and 'keep it real' which are actually damaging to our relationships, as it puts us first and others second. We need to regularly ask God to help us walk in humility. This helps us walk with others in harmony and not dissonance.

Forgiveness is the bridge to miracles: In Psalms 133:3, Mount Hermon is 200 miles from the hills of Zion! Dew on one mountain would never fall on the other shy of a miracle. This is the point; forgiveness unlocks the miracle of harmony. Embrace the practice of confession and asking for forgiveness. When you do this, you will not be as quick to confront the sins of others. Romans 12:18 reminds us that our side of the relationship is our responsibility

Psalm 133:3b GNT

3 That is where the Lord has promised his blessing—
    life that never ends.

When you live without offense, God's blessing isn't optional, it's inevitable
