Make Way For A Miracle

Scripture

John 12:12-13 NCV

12 The next day a great crowd who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming there. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Jesus, shouting,

“Praise God!
God bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord!
God bless the King of Israel!”

Main Idea

On Palm Sunday, crowds from all over Israel gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival of Passover. As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds praised and worshipped him. They laid down their coats, waved palm branches, and shouted, "Praise God! God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord!" This act of praise created a path for Jesus to fulfill His purpose. Throughout scripture, we see that praise clears a path for God to move in our lives.

Jesus offers more than a better now, He offers a better place.

Discussion Questions

  1. Pastor Justin mentioned how the people had a wrong expectation of what kind of freedom they wanted Jesus to bring. How do you think our expectations of what Jesus should do in our lives get in the way of what He really wants to bring?
  2. Considering the stories of Jericho and Jehoshaphat, how does the statement "praise clears a path" resonate with you?
  3. Have you noticed how certain music can impact your mood? How does this affect your spiritual life?
  4. What barriers do you have from fully engaging in worship?

Summary

Worship is not mere entertainment or filler in our church services; it is a powerful tool for inviting God's presence and experiencing miracles. Through worship, we make a way for God to move in our lives. We were created to be worshipers, and when we wholeheartedly worship God, we set the stage for the supernatural. Our focus shifts from ourselves to Jesus, the one who brings victory and freedom. As we enter Holy Week, let us be intentional about creating an atmosphere of faith and expectancy through our worship. Remember, praise clears a path, music shifts our mood, and worship makes a way for miracles.

Take Action

  • Make a conscious effort to incorporate praise into your daily routine, whether it's through music, prayer, or simply voicing gratitude.
  • Take time at the start or end of your day to list three things you're grateful for, focusing on the victories and freedoms Jesus has won for you.
  • Assess the music you consume regularly and how it influences your mood and spiritual state. Commit to integrating more worship music into your playlist.
  • Encourage someone this week by sharing a personal story of how God is working in your life.
