The Door To More

Scripture

Luke 16:10 VOICE

10 If you’re faithful in small-scale matters, you’ll be faithful with far bigger responsibilities. If you’re crooked in small responsibilities, you’ll be no different in bigger things.

Main Idea

You will never find God's purpose for your life unless you develop character. Small things in our lives are what build our character. How you approach these small things will determine if a door will present itself to you. These doors can lead you to something more in your life.

For the things that God is going to build in your life, he is going to start small. Just because it's small, doesn't mean it's insignificant.

Discussion Questions

  1. What does starting with the small things in your life look like?
  2. Is there a small thing on your way to reaching your goals? How can you overcome it?
  3. What is a way that you can show God he can trust you with the small things?
  4. Picture what your calling card looks like. How do you want people to recognize you?

Summary

God has a calling for each of us. How we each pursue God's calling is what defines our character. In our daily lives, we face opportunities to define character. Many opportunities may seem small, but God uses them to test character. As Jesus said in Luke 16:10, "If you’re faithful in small-scale matters, you’ll be faithful with far bigger responsibilities. If you’re crooked in small responsibilities, you’ll be no different in bigger things." The little things in life matter. Small successes can lead to big accomplishments. Small failures can derail big futures. Sometimes, we approach small failures as if they don't matter. But these small failures may be God asking, "Can I trust you?" Be faithful in the small things in life so you can open the door to more.
